Here was the most fun part of my fair (so far). Yesterday, Elizabeth and I decided to take a whirl on the River Raft Ride, which is one of things on my ever-dwindling "haven't done that at the fair before" list. So, we hop on and have a good little ride -- got a little wet but seeing as how yesterday was 93 degrees, it felt pretty good.
But, here's the thing: Elizabeth got MORE wet, and for some reason, that bothered her. There was something a little unfair about the respective levels of dampness upon exiting the ride.
So, she insisted that we go on it again. I acquiesced. And ladies, let this be a cautionary tale...
We start out, and Elizabeth is convinced she can maneuver the boat by shifting her weight. Fortunately, I have a keen understanding of Newton's 3rd Law, so I just countered every move she made...

And it's right about here that she realizes the grave mistake she has made...

Remember the Dukes of Hazzard TV shows? Whenever Bo & Luke would get themselves into a pickle, they'd "freeze frame" the General Lee as it was jumping overing something. Then Waylon Jennings would come on and say, "Well, them ol' Duke Boys sure did get themselves in a big ol' mess this time..." I kind of wish I had Waylon Jennings with me right now to set up this next shot...

Booya! Notice how I'm still able to take pictures from a dry location!...

The second best thing about the river raft ride is that you have to remain buckled in your seat. Even when you want to strangle your husband...

Fret not, for this ride isn't over yet. There's still plenty of time for both of us to get wet...

Okay, so maybe not both of us. Remember, I'm over on THIS side where it's dry... Hey, there's a blue tunnel!

And when it's all over, you can just ring out your clothes. IF you got wet, of course.
I love this ride.
